Stroke Care

The Stroke Center at St. Joseph Health is the region's front runner in stroke care, having been designated the first Joint Commission Certified Stroke Center in the Brazos Valley. This means you won't find a more qualified and equipped stroke center anywhere in the region. Our highly advanced center includes experts in the most advanced ways of recognizing risk and preventing strokes.

With stroke being the number five cause of death and the leading cause of adult disability in the United States, we are committed to improving our ability to treat and prevent strokes.

If you or a family member are experiencing stroke symptoms, you want to go where you'll receive the highest level of care needed in that situation. You can be assured of getting the fast attention you need at St. Joseph Health. Our effective and timely care for stroke patients is demonstrated through our status as a Primary Stroke Center, and that prompt care is proven to significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients.

Our commitment to offer the best diagnoses and treatments has led us to develop a state-of-the-art stroke facility offering the latest in stroke care.

St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital is certified as a Primary Stroke Center. All four of our other hospitals in this region (Burleson Hospital, College Station Hospital, Grimes Hospital and Madison Hospital) are designated as Support Stroke Centers. So no matter what Emergency Room you enter, our staff follows the same processes and treatment plans when a stroke occurs.
