Kia Parsi, MD, Chief Medical Officer

St. Joseph Health named Dr. Kia Parsi Chief Medical Officer in July, 2016.

As CMO, Dr. Parsi is responsible for providing physician oversight for the provision of care at our acute and ambulatory points of access. Dr. Parsi also works to create all points of access across the care continuum through medical oversight, ensuring we continue to advance delivery models, elevate standards of care and pursue a systemness approach for the coordination and optimization of patient care.

Dr. Parsi also works closely with the medical leadership of the Texas Division toward developing a triad approach to management throughout the Texas Division, bringing physician/providers, nurses and operational leaders together and strengthening clinical alignment.

Before he came on as CMO, Dr. Parsi was a member of St. Joseph Health Medical Group for 17 years. He served as Medical Director for the Caldwell Family Medicine Center, Chairman of the Board of Directors for both St. Joseph Health’s Clinically Integrated Network and Accountable Care Organization and Medical Director for the senior service line – one of our fastest growing and most critical initiatives.

Dr. Parsi earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the American Board of Family Practice, American Geriatrics Society and the Texas Medical Association.

Ricardo Diaz, Chief Operating Officer

St. Joseph Health named Ricardo Diaz Chief Operating Officer in January, 2015.

Managing all acute care operations, Ricardo is responsible for operational supervision and support to improve efficiency and effectiveness in our hospitals. As COO, Ricardo leads all clinical and non-clinical support systems to achieve excellence in patient satisfaction, team member engagement, physician engagement, financial, quality and patient safety targets.

In addition to his role as COO, Ricardo maintains oversight of Nursing, Human Resources, Plant Operations, Construction Management, Property Leasing, Environmental Services, Laundry, Dietary, Nursing Home Plant Management, Imaging, Laboratory, Cancer Center, Pharmacy Emergency Medical Services, Cardiopulmonary, Rehabilitation Services, Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Athletic Trainer Program, Oncology Service Line, Cardiovascular Service Line, Orthopedic Service Line and Neurosciences Service Line.

He also shares oversight of multiple non-nursing support and clinical service departments within St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital, including Lab, Imaging, Emergency Medical Services, Security, Plant Operations, Clinical Engineering, Maintenance and Construction and Environmental Services.

Prior to joining St. Joseph Health in 2012, Ricardo served as Chief Operating Officer for Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Spring Hill Regional Hospital in Spring Hill, Florida and Santa Rosa Medical Center in Milton, Florida. He also served as Chief Executive Officer for Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center in Live Oak, Florida.

Ricardo earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in Biomedical Science and a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He is currently a member of the Health for All Board as well as Texas A&M Biomedical Science Board.

Beverly Welch, MSN, RN

St. Joseph Health named Beverly Welch, MSN, RN Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President, Patient Care Services in December, 2016.

Beverly, who has served at St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital for over 23 years, is responsible for enhancing clinical outcomes by establishing a culture of systemness collaboration with key stakeholders. For the last nearly two decades, Beverly has led several departments, including multiple nursing departments, Transfer Center, Centralized Patient Transport, House Supervisors, Staffing Office and Emergency Department Call Panel Program with oversight for managers in Trauma, Stroke, Chest Pain Center, Emergency Management and Air Medical.

Beverly joined our organization as a Charge/Staff nurse in Emergency Services and has assumed roles of increasing responsibility, becoming Executive Director of Patient Care Services and Emergency/Trauma Service Line in 2014.

Over the past few decades, Beverly has served as a community leader, collaborating with various disciplines to expand access to healthcare, including committee leadership for the Governor’s Emergency and Trauma Advisory Council.

Beverly earned her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees of Science in Nursing Administration from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and her Associate’s Degree in Registered Nursing from San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas.

Kevin Walters, Vice President of Operational Finance

Kevin Walters joined St. Joseph Health in May 2022 as Vice President of Operational Finance. With over 27 years of healthcare-related experience, of which 20 were at sister CommonSpirit Health markets across the nation, Kevin provides financial, strategic, and developmental leadership throughout the healthcare system. Kevin works closely with hospital leadership to drive market strategy and maximize the financial performance in his role. Kevin received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and a Master of Healthcare Administration from Trinity University. He has served on numerous community and professional boards.
