To all Blue Cross holders, St. Joseph Health is here for you.

Our work at St. Joseph Health is guided by our healing ministry. Thanks to our partnership with Texas A&M Health Science Center, we’re able to provide cutting-edge care that is cost-effective. We’ve been honored to provide essential services and care to those who need it most during this pandemic. Our ability to continue to do so depends on whether we receive equitable and fair reimbursement from insurers like Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas.

St. Joseph Health is a not-for-profit, faith-based hospital system. That means 100% of the money our hospitals receive is funneled back into our people, facilities, technologies, and communities. Therefore, we must act as careful stewards of our finances.

We get it.

Any time you hear or read about a community hospital discussing insurance coverage, there are reasons for concerns. And concerns prompt questions. But there are two important things you should know: First, our patients' welfare is absolutely paramount. And second, we’ll do our best to answer all of your questions and lower the level of concern. You want this resolved — so do we.

St. Joseph chooses people over profits. Blue Cross should do the same.

Following years of underpayment from BCBSTX, our current proposal would simply move St. Joseph from the bottom tier of BCBSTX reimbursements into the middle.

Despite multiple efforts and proposals from St. Joseph, BCBSTX was not willing to reach an agreement. St. Joseph Health’s contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas expired at 11:59 p.m. on December 16.
