St. Joseph Health Cancer Center Breast Program Receives American College of Surgeons Re-Accreditation

Bryan, TX, February 1, 2022 - The St. Joseph Health Cancer Center’s breast program recently completed its third American College of Surgeons NAPBC reaccreditation survey. The breast program, which gained accreditation in 2014, has been recognized for maintaining levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive, patient-centered, multidisciplinary care resulting in high-quality care for patients with breast disease, over the last 8 years.

This accreditation certifies that each Cancer Center physician and team member is knowledgeable about breast cancer and care is provided under best practice evidence-based guidelines.

As additional support, the St. Joseph Health Breast Health Navigation team follows all newly-diagnosed patients through the program’s continuum of care to ensure timely and personalized care throughout their treatment.

“The team at the St. Joseph Health Cancer Center is dedicated to promoting the best possible outcomes for our patients and ensuring they have access to all the resources they need in order to understand and be comfortable with their treatment journeys,” said Misti Chapman, Director of the Cancer Center at St. Joseph Health.

The Cancer Center’s Cancer Conference reviews each patient’s case with the multidisciplinary team to gather input from physicians and specialists from a variety of backgrounds and provide the most comprehensive care possible. Key physicians who sit on the committee include Scott Goble, MD (program chair); Erin Fleener, MD; Jamie Pawlowki, Md; Kimiye Cabrera, MD; Michael Steines, MD; John Williams, MD; Marcela Jimenez, MD; and Dr. Eric Appelt, MD.
