St. Joseph Health Earns Top Quality Grade from National Rating Organization

Posted in: Accreditations

Bryan, TX, November 7, 2019—The Leapfrog Group, a national hospital rating organization, has assigned a quality grade of B to St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital and St. Joseph Health - College Station Hospital. The Fall 2019 rating marks the second consecutive time Regional Hospital has earned a B rating. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and other supplemental data sources. Taken together, those 28 performance measures produce a single letter grade representing a hospital’s overall performance in preventing medical errors. The Leapfrog Group ranks 2,600 hospitals twice annually. To maintain its B rating, Regional Hospital continued its focus on process/structural and outcome measures. Process measures evaluate how St. Joseph Health gives recommended treatments for a medical condition or procedure, while structural measures assess the environment in which a patient receives care. Outcome measures represent what happens to a patient while receiving care, reviewing the steps the team takes to promote a safe and healing environment. “Our team is committed to a culture of safety, where we work to continually improve our processes for the benefit of our patients,” said Theron Park, St. Joseph Health President and CEO. “Our B rating from The Leapfrog Group supports everything we are doing here to avoid mistakes and provide the safest care possible. We are also proud of the work done at College Station Hospital ensuring that our high standard of care is delivered to patients at that facility as well.” St. Joseph Health College Station Hospital, previously College Station Medical Center, became part of the St. Joseph Health network on August 1, 2019.
