Navasota, TX, February 17, 2020—The Texas Department of State Health Services has
reaccredited St. Joseph Health Grimes Hospital as a Level 3 Stroke Support Facility in
Trauma Service Area-N for its commitment to ensuring quality care is available for stroke
patients in Grimes county and the surrounding areas.
A Stroke Support Facility provides resuscitation, stabilization and assessment of stroke victims
and either provides treatment or arranges for immediate transfer to a higher level of stroke care,
such as St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital. It also provides ongoing educational
opportunities in stroke-related topics for health care professionals and the public and
implements stroke prevention programs.
"The surveyor commented on the strength of our stroke program and our team's leadership role
in developing a successful stroke program," said Erin Marietta, Director of Operations for CHI
St. Joseph Health Grimes Hospital. "Our designation as a Level 3 support facility emphasizes
our commitment to providing quality, life-saving care to stroke patients in our community."
All St. Joseph Health Critical Access Hospitals are credentialed as Stroke Support Facilities,
with a designated stroke coordinator who oversees the stroke program and ensures the program
meets safety and quality standards set by the state and accrediting agencies.
ABOUT St. JOSEPH HEALTH GRIMES HOSPITAL: Grimes Hospital is a 25- bed
critical access hospital in Navasota, Texas offering a Level IV Trauma Center, inpatient,
outpatient and day surgery services. The hospital was established by Grimes County and has
been an integral part of the community since its inception. In 1996 it became part of St.
Joseph Health. St. Joseph has a long-term lease to manage and operate Grimes Hospital,
which is owned by Grimes County.
Grimes Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations (JCAHO).
