St. Joseph Health Enters Into Partnership with Med-Trans Corporation

BRYAN, TX, August 22, 2023 — Today, St. Joseph Health announced it has entered into a partnership with Med-Trans Corporation (Med-Trans) to continue air medical services in the Brazos Valley under the name St. Joseph Health AirMed 12.

The AirMed12 base operates round-the-clock and leverages the expertise of both organizations. St. Joseph Health provides the highly trained and experienced flight nurses and flight paramedics, while Med-Trans provides skilled pilots and aviation maintenance technicians. The Airbus H-135 operated at this base is medically configured with the latest avionics and safety features and is Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) capable, meaning it can operate in reduced visibility conditions.

“Our new relationship with Med-Trans will upgrade our current aircraft to the latest air medical helicopter available, increasing our ability to fly in marginal weather, increasing our ability to get to critical patients in the Brazos Valley,” said Billy Rice, St. Joseph Health Director of EMS and AirMed 12. “The combination of St Joseph Flight crews and Med-Trans' aviation expertise will make AirMed 12 one of the highest performing flight teams in the country."

St. Joseph Health was the first to bring air medical services to the Brazos Valley, opening its program in 2005 under the name AirMed 12. This new partnership between St. Joseph Health and Med-Trans leverages Med-Trans Corporation’s nationwide resources, ensuring comprehensive, state-of-the-art aviation resources.

“We are incredibly proud to partner with St. Joseph Health,” said Kim Montgomery, president of Med-Trans. “Our partnership will greatly enhance the ability of St. Joseph’s Health clinicians to provide critical care to patients in need, particularly those in life-threatening or time-sensitive situations."

This transition of aviation services to Med-Trans will be seamless with no disruption or change in service for patients or the public.
