During a stroke or heart attack, our patients have access to seamless admission to one of our Comprehensive Stroke Centers or accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI. We offer high-quality emergency care for the most serious conditions, including:

  • Allergic reactions
  • Chest pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Fractures
  • Head trauma
  • Life-threatening infections
  • Severe injury
  • Stroke

 

*If you’re experiencing life-threatening symptoms, call 911 immediately. You may request the ambulance take you to a St. Joseph Health emergency room.

Emergency transport with St. Joseph Health

St. Joseph Health Emergency Medical Services is the only air and ground medical transport team in the Brazos Valley, transporting patients to hospitals throughout the region – including hospitals in Houston, Austin and Temple. In 2005, through a partnership with PHI Air Medical, Air Med 12 was created and combines quality emergency care with the capabilities of the country’s leading provider of air medical transport.

We accept all major insurance plans.

In the event of an emergency, you need an ER that keeps you in-network. We accept all major insurances, including UnitedHealthcare, and Aetna, among many others.

Frequently asked questions about InQuickER online check-in

This online scheduling feature is for patients with non-life-threatening emergencies. If you are experiencing a life-threatening or limb-threatening emergency, call 911 for immediate assistance or go to the nearest emergency room. You should only use the emergency room online check-in tool if you are certain you can wait at home with no risk to your health.

Call 911 immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Chest pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Drooping face, arm weakness, or slurred speech
  • Severe injury

To cancel your visit, please refer to your confirmation email and follow the cancellation instructions. You can also call the provider directly to cancel.

Our goal is to honor each patient's scheduled time. However, you may experience delays if you arrive after your scheduled time. ER wait times depend on a variety of factors, including severity of medical condition and number of patients currently in the ER. In order to provide appropriate and prompt care, patients are seen by order of severity of their condition.

Patients are typically seen within 15 minutes of their estimated treatment time. For your safety, we will ask you to verify your information when you arrive.
